September 14th Monthly Meeting

The 3 Graces of Extraordinary Business Analysis

Stewart Mednick
President, IIBA Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter

The process or end result of any analysis should aspire to possess The 3 Graces:

  • Be a Compelling Force: Differentiate from the norm and stand out.
  • Create a Meaningful Design: Meet requirements and function to fulfill business needs in a sustainable manner.
  • Contain a Transcendent Idea: Contain a creative and innovative idea that benefits productivity or efficiency.

Capability assessment and functional decomposition, gap analysis, and maturity modeling can be tools used to map out the process to achieve The 3 Graces.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the session, participants will:

1)  Consider The 3 Graces as benchmarks for a success project.

2)  Be able to define each of the graces.

3)  Be aware of a process to assess the "as-is" state and how to map to the desired result.

4)  Be able to use business analysis "rigor" as the methodology to achieve The 3 Graces.

Our speaker, Stewart Mednick, is President of this IIBA chapter.  He has held four chapter board positions.  He is a Technical Product Analyst with a core experience in Healthcare IT and public sector contracting.  As a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, Stewart has performed roles of Veteran Service Officer and Senior Business Analyst for the VA and Department of Defense Manpower Data Center.  Stewart is the published author of more than 50 articles.  This presentation will also be given at the BBC.  (See "Other Educational Opportunities" section for more information on the BBC.)
